Driver Who Killed 9-Year-Old Girl Blamed Her For Her Death — Then Video Revealed The Truth

Qadeer Hussain, 55, was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison for killing nine-year-old Alice Williams in a reckless driving accident on July 8, 2023, in Halifax. Hussain ran a red light, speeding 20 mph over the limit, and struck Alice, who was crossing the street with her mother and younger brother. Despite initially blaming the girl for rushing into the road, dashcam footage revealed he was driving at 49 mph when the light turned red.

Alice was critically injured and died a few days later. Hussain later admitted to causing her death through reckless driving. In court, Alice’s mother expressed that their family would “never be whole again,” and her brother described Hussain as “mean” and “bad.” Hussain was also banned from driving for 10 years.

Alice’s family emphasized the importance of driving safely and urged others to consider the consequences of reckless driving. Detective Sergeant Steve Suggitt commended the dashcam footage, which was crucial in securing the conviction. The family remembers Alice as a bright, loving girl and hopes her death serves as a reminder of road safety.
