Jamie Foxx is opening up about his April 2023 medical emergency. In his new Netflix comedy special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened WasâŚ, released Dec. 10, the Academy Award winner, 56, grew emotional as he revealed that he suffered âa brain bleed that led to a strokeâ that left him fighting for his life in a hospital and unable to remember a 20-day period from April to May 2023.
âPlease, Lord, let me get through this,â the actor said as he discussed his âmystery illness.â He went on to state that while on the Atlanta set of his Netflix movie Back in Action on April 11, 2023, he âwas having a bad headache, and I asked my boy for Aspirin. I realized quickly that when youâre in a medical emergency, your boys donât know what the fâ to do. Before I could get the aspirin [clicks his fingers] I went out.â
Fox, who was left fighting for his life in a hospital, said he was unable to remember a 20-day period from April to May 2023. He âwoke upâ on May 4 in a wheelchair and was told that his friends took him to a doctor in Atlanta who gave him a cortisone shot and then âsent me home.â
