As the Biden presidency nears its conclusion, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will soon vacate her role, and a panel of media commentators shared their thoughts with the Daily Caller on what her next move might be.
The consensus suggested that despite widespread criticism of her performance in the role, Jean-Pierre is likely to secure a position as a contributor on a cable news network, following a similar path to her predecessor, Jen Psaki, who landed at far-left MSNBC.
She’ll go where all the other failed Hollywood actors go when they’re useless to the deep state: a cable chat show that exclusively exists to sell weird books and products to lonely women,” Daily Caller alum and media veteran Kay Hill told the outlet.
NewsBusters Managing Editor Curtis Houck agreed with that assessment. “I fully anticipate someone will hire her as a contributor, whether it be a return to MSNBC or even CNN,” he said.
Psaki, who served during Barack Obama’s presidency, left the Biden White House in 2022 to host her show “Inside with Jen Psaki” on MSNBC.
KJP’s history of dishonesty and incompetence should disqualify her from any future cable news pundit roles, Houck stated.
“In a merit-based world, Karine Jean-Pierre would be unemployable in TV news,” he told the Caller. “It’s still remarkable to me that she spent years as an established cable news pundit and sitting for lengthy segments where guests would have to think on their feet and go beyond talking points.”
Others, however, told the Daily Caller that her inability to tell the truth makes her a perfect far-left host candidate.
“KJP was so dumb, so dishonest, and so bad at her job that I can only assume she’ll have a show on CBS News next year,” Mollie Hemingway, a best-selling author and editor-in-chief of The Federalist, said.
Emily Jashinsky, the program officer for public relations at Young America’s Foundation, noted that Jean-Pierre might have less leverage than previous press secretaries due to the challenges and perceived shortcomings of the Biden presidency during her tenure.
“The Biden brand is bad, even on the left right now. It may be difficult for people like KJP to get jobs as prominent as Jen Psaki’s at MSNBC, given that Psaki departed before the wheels really started to fall off the administration,” Jashinsky said.
Others agreed with Jashinsky’s assessment, noting that Jean-Pierre has a history of falsehoods that will likely be difficult to overcome.
“Where do you go to wash off the catastrophic amount of lying she did to the American people about Biden’s condition?” Scott Jennings, a popular conservative commentator on CNN and a new LA Times editorial board member, told the Caller.
“She’s at the center of the biggest scandal going in American politics,” he concluded.
Conservative social media users criticized Jean-Pierre last week after she shared a photo of the White House communications team, praising them as the “best team in the business.”
Critics of President Biden on X swiftly challenged the post, disputing her claim and accusing Jean-Pierre of consistently misrepresenting facts on behalf of the president throughout his tenure.
Washington Times columnist Tim Murtaugh gave the outgoing press secretary and her staff a stern goodbye, writing, “This ‘best team in the business’ lied to the world about the mental & physical fitness of the president and, ultimately, failed. Their work led to Trump’s huge win, which was a complete repudiation of everything they did in the most important jobs they’ll ever have.”
