In response to his health crisis, the Vatican has initiated nightly rosary prayers in St. Peter’s Square, led by cardinals, to pray for the Pope’s recovery. These gatherings have seen a significant turnout of faithful from around the world, reflecting the global concern for his well-being.

Pope Francis has expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, stating, “In recent days I have received many messages of affection, and I have been particularly struck by the letters and drawings from children.” He emphasized the importance of rest as part of his therapy and remains hopeful about his recovery.

Medical professionals caution that while the Pope’s condition shows some signs of stabilization, he is not yet out of danger. The primary concern remains the potential for sepsis, a severe infection that can arise as a complication of pneumonia. In light of his hospitalization, Pope Francis has missed several public engagements, including the Sunday Angelus prayer. However, he has remained engaged with the faithful through written messages and has participated in Mass from his hospital room.
