Miracle Survivor Sophie Delezio Ties The Knot In Dreamy Country Ceremony

Miracle survivor Sophie Delezio, formerly thought of as Australia’s bravest little child, is seen in fun poses and lovingly hugging her new husband in behind-the-scenes images from her weekend wedding.

In a quaint country wedding held at the upscale Hunter Valley home Anambah House on Saturday, Delezio, 24, wed her childhood sweetheart, Joseph Salerno.

Sophie wore a beautiful, flowing gown with elaborate bodice design, a train that her shining bridesmaids held, and a long lace veil.

After the marriage vows, her four friends in beige gowns rejoiced with champagne on the lawn surrounded by hedges and beautifully designed gardens.

Joseph’s best man and groomsmen donned matching beige suits with RM Williams boots, while Joseph wore a chocolate-colored suit for the ceremony.

Sophie, Joseph, and their bridal party excitedly popped champagne corks and cheered after Saturday’s wedding.

The restored barn, which looked out over acres of immaculate lawns and gardens and old oak trees, served as the venue for the celebration.

As the pair exchanged vows, bridesmaids were seen pulling Sophie’s veil back.

On her special day in 2007, the bride wore the stunning pearl drop and diamond heart earrings that Italian movie icon Sophia Loren had given her.

On Saturday afternoon, some 160 family members and friends took a bus to the location to witness the longtime couple’s lifelong commitment to one another.

Those in attendance included the medical professionals who saved Sophie’s life following two catastrophic childhood accidents, performing over 100 surgeries.

When Sophie was two years old and a car crashed through the window of her childcare center in 2003, trapping her underneath, Australia came together to support her.

After the disaster, she lost both of her feet, numerous fingers, and her right ear, and 85% of her body was burned.

Who can forget the tragic pictures of the adorable kid who lost an ear, both feet, and several fingers in the startling accident?

Three years later, tragedy struck once more when the five-year-old was out with her nanny and struck by a car close to her house on Sydney’s northern beaches.

She suffered a brain injury, a punctured lung, two fractured vertebrae, nine broken ribs, a broken jaw, and a broken collarbone after the collision flung her eighteen meters out of her wheelchair.

Doctors at Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick asked Sophie’s family twice if they wanted to remove her life support after she suffered a heart attack during the trauma.

Only a month later, however, the strong little girl left the hospital and returned to school after making yet another incredible recovery.

In the years after the bizarre accidents, she has commemorated numerous achievements.

The delighted couple welcomed a baby boy, Frankie, in September of last year. Sophie told Woman’s Day magazine that it was “the best year of her life.”

The couple became engaged in 2023 after Joseph proposed on Valentine’s Day while surrounded by rose petals and candles. They had first met in Year 9 while attending Oxford Falls Grammar, a coeducational Christian institution.

Sophie revealed that she underwent surgery in the months following her engagement to prepare for her wedding day. She informed her followers on Instagram about her recuperation.

“Life threw me a major curveball and I had to undergo surgery in order for me to walk down the aisle next year,” she wrote.

She earlier told Woman’s Day magazine that she planned to wear the custom prosthetic legs she had manufactured so she could dance the night away with Joseph and wear heels of 10 cm to her Year 10 formal.

“That’s a full-circle moment, wearing those same legs for the wedding,” she says, adding that they will both write their own vows, and play the 1963 Ronettes classic Be My Baby for their first dance as husband and wife.

For their wedding weekend, the couple went all out, renting an Airbnb for $4,000 per night that can accommodate 21 people and has a giant pool, a movie theater, and a gaming area.

The couple’s respective bridal parties spent the morning getting ready at the opulent rental home, where they had a pre-wedding picture session on the grounds.

Sophie and her parents, Ron and Carlyn, were driven to the wedding, which was 20 minutes away from their opulent lodging, in a vintage 1964 white Pontiac Bonneville with antique blue interiors.
