He may no longer sit in the Oval Office, but Joe Biden just proved he\u2019s not done making waves. At a recent conference in Chicago, the former president took the mic \u2014 and didn\u2019t hold back when it came to his successor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Biden\u2019s first speech<\/h2>\n

Joe Biden and Donald Trump have clashed more than once over the years \u2014 and it\u2019s no secret there\u2019s no love lost between the two, especially when it comes to their visions for America.<\/p>\n

While Trump charges ahead like a bulldozer in the White House \u2014 grabbing headlines over global tariffs \u2014 there\u2019s been a lot more happening the past months. From Elon Musk\u2019s surprising appointment as the face of DOGE to major cuts in university funding and efforts to downsize the federal workforce, the current administration has been pushing through sweeping changes on multiple fronts.<\/p>\n

And one person who clearly has thoughts about all this \u2014 and isn\u2019t shy about sharing them \u2014 is former President\u00a0Joe Biden.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Biden stepped on stage at the Advocates, Counselors and Representatives for the Disabled conference in Chicago. The 82-year-old spoke warmly about his childhood and family before shifting to what he called \u201can issue that\u2019s front and center for millions of Americans\u201d: Social Security.<\/p>\n

Took aim at Trump<\/h2>\n

Biden opened by honoring the day\u2019s designation as Social Security National Day of Action by Democrats, saying: \u201dEveryone in this room fights for people with disabilities who rely on Social Security to survive \u2013 and it\u2019s not just the physical side, it\u2019s the mental side. You make sure folks get the benefits they earn after a lifetime of hard work, the work they do is more than just a profession, what you do, it\u2019s a calling.\u201d<\/p>\n

He reminded the audience that Social Security isn\u2019t just a policy \u2014 it\u2019s personal:<\/p>\n

\u201d73 million Americans receive Social Security, from the first pay check for their entire life they pay into social security and in return, they count on social security to be there for them when they\u2019re going to need it.<\/p>\n

Folks, we must never ever betray that trust or turn our backs on an obligation \u2013 that\u2019s why during my presidency we protected social security and made it stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n

Without naming names, Biden took aim at Trump-era executive orders and certain Republicans in Congress, who he says want to \u201dcut and gut Social Security.\u201d<\/p>\n

And he didn\u2019t hold back:<\/p>\n

Who the hell do they think they are?<\/h2>\n

\u201dThey want to let social security expire every five years \u2013 that was a proposal \u2013 unless re-authorized by the Congress. Who the hell do they think they are?\u201d<\/p>\n

While Biden touted his administration\u2019s move to secure nearly $2 billion to improve customer service and cut wait times, he slammed his predecessor for raising the debt ceiling after giving what Biden called a \u201dprofligate tax\u201d cut to the super-wealthy.<\/p>\n

\u201dLast time this guy had the job he raised the debt ceiling because of an enormous and profligate tax to the super wealthy.\u201d<\/p>\n

And on those trying to slash Social Security, Biden had one burning question:<\/p>\n

\u201dHow do you sleep at night? How do you sleep at night?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201dThey\u2019re certainly breaking things, they\u2019re shooting first and aiming later,\u201d Biden said. \u201dThe result is a lot of needless pain and sleepless nights.\u201d<\/p>\n

Made one thing clear<\/h2>\n

\u201dMy friend Governor Ali knows what they\u2019re really up to. He says \u2013 and I love this quote \u2013 \u201dThey want to wreck it so they can rob it.\u201d<\/p>\n

And Biden made it clear:<\/p>\n

\u201dI refuse to go along with any of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He closed by stressing the duty of elected officials:<\/p>\n

\u201dOne of the most important jobs of any elected official is to make sure the government works for the people, works for all the people [\u2026] and that we keep our promises to the people, all the people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Biden\u2019s fiery words drew applause from the crowd \u2014but they also reopened a fierce national debate: Is Social Security a sacred promise or just another government expense waiting to be trimmed?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Should benefits evolve with economic strain, or is any attempt to reform them a betrayal of working Americans? And with the next election looming, will voters reward bold defense \u2014 or demand bold reform?<\/strong><\/p>\n
