Newly elected Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney didn\u2019t waste any time throwing fuel to the already fiery relationship between Canada and the US.<\/p>\n

Moments after being elected, PM Mark Carney\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0in his victory speech that Donald Trump is \u201ctrying to break us so that America can own us.\u201d<\/h3>\n

\u201cAs I\u2019ve been warning for months, America wants our land, our water, our resources, our country\u2026 never,\u201d he said in the early hours of the morning of April 29.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat will never, ever happen. But we also must recognize the reality that our world has fundamentally changed,\u201d he added and warned these were not \u201cidle threats.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carney\u2019s speech is a response to Trump\u2019s vision to\u00a0make Canada a part of the United States of America.<\/p>\n

Before former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau\u2019s decision to step down from power after a decade at the helm, Trump referred to him as to a \u201cGovernor of Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to the elections in Canada, Trump took to\u00a0Truth Social\u00a0<\/em>trying to influence Canadian voters.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood luck to the Great people of Canada,\u201d he\u00a0wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cElect the man who has the strength and wisdom to cut your taxes in half, increase your military power, for free, to the highest level in the World, have your Car, Steel, Aluminum, Lumber, Energy, and all other businesses, QUADRUPLE in size, WITH ZERO TARIFFS OR TAXES, if Canada becomes the cherished 51st. State of the United States of America.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo more artificially drawn line from many years ago. Look how beautiful this land mass would be. Free access with NO BORDER. ALL POSITIVES WITH NO NEGATIVES. IT WAS MEANT TO BE!\u201d Trump continued.<\/p>\n

Both Prime Minister Carney and his rival, Liberal Party candidate Both Poilievre, pledged to stand up to Trump if elected.<\/h3>\n

Trump\u00a0claimed<\/a>\u00a0Canada had the power to work as a state because \u201cAmerica is \u2018spending $200 billion a year to subsidize it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carney said they were \u201cover the shock of the American betrayal\u201d and ask his people \u201cto look out for ourselves and above all we have to take care of each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I sit down with President Trump it will be to discuss the future economic and security relationship between two sovereign nations, and it will be with our full knowledge that we have many, many other options than the United States to build prosperity for all Canadians,\u201d Mark Carney added.<\/p>\n

He also urged Canadians to buy domestic goods and to explore everything the country has to offer.<\/h3>\n
